Headed over to San Mateo coast to participate in a Snowy Plover Count day.On the way made brief stop at the pond, behind Apple Jack's, in La Honda to check out the Hooded MergansersThen off to Pescadero Beach - High surf day with Surf Scoters. Eventually found group of Snowy Plovers - 10 birds in all. At closeer look one was a Sanderling. Longer and thinner bill and more fringing on feathers. Then off to Bean Hollow. Very picturesque Great Blue Heron at the main beach but no Snowies. The rock cliffs at the north parking area were dramatic as was the image of a Red breasted Merganser facing an on coming wave.
